A lot of people want to start their own online business such as a simple ecommerce website, but they really do not know how. Well today, I am going to take you on a journey to help you build your very own profitable online store. Let’s get started, shall we?

Choose a Product

You cannot have a business if you do not have a product to sell, right? So, the first order of business is to choose a product that you want to market.
You can go about it in a number of ways. You can either sell products that are dear to you (as part of your personal passion). You can also sell products that are based on things that are always trendy the whole year round.
But most importantly, you also want to sell something that addresses a certain need. People buy products because it helps them solve something. For instance, people buy clothing because it solves their dilemma of choosing their “OOTD”.
Next, you will then contemplate whether you’re going to manufacture your own products or buy them from a supplier and do something of a wholesale or a similar idea.

Preparation

Next, you will have to conduct a competitive analysis. This is where you will find a certain niche and then research something about your competitors. Then and only then, can you create a solid business plan.
Simply put, your business plan is a roadmap that will allow you to plot everything. Once everything is done, the next part will be the execution phase. Always remember to base your business plan from the research that you’ve conducted on your competitors.

Setting Up

Next, you want to start focusing on your own business. What is your brand name? Some ideas are the product you’re going to sell or something that is catchy yet still relevant to the things that you have on offer.
Then, you want to create a brand logo as well. Be creative with this one- choose punchier colors and make it more memorable.
Since you’re going to build an online store, you pretty much have to know and even learn some fundamentals of search engine optimization. Luckily, there are plenty of resources that you can find online.
Then, you will want to use an online platform that will allow you to get orders online. Since you’re still a budding business, I highly recommend that you also add some sales channels as well. You can use platforms like eBay or Amazon for starters.

Pre-Launch

Since you’re running an online shop, this means that you will have to ship your products to your customers. This can be a very challenging endeavor since you’re going to cater to both local and international customers as well.
I suggest that you read up on reading supplements regarding shipping and fulfillment to help you get started. Also, it would be best that you also familiarize yourself with some key performance indicators to help you keep track of your progress.

Post-Launch

Once the store is a go, you have to make sure that you continue your marketing efforts. You can try email blasts or even social media marketing as well since both of these platforms have become really good when it comes to an e-commerce business.
Furthermore, you want to make sure to look at and read customer feedback as these are vital things that will help your business grow.
